And now, the conclusion.
We’d found the Aisha Sirenix doll, but we weren’t done hunting yet. Why drive two hours away just to turn around after one stop?
Next store: “Super” Target! If you’ve never seen one, imagine a Walmart-sized Target — more groceries, bigger aisles, and more check-out lanes. You’d expect a place like this to have a larger selection of — well, everything. But when the Muse and I found the Winx Club section, we were super disappointed.
Three Believix dolls, two short rows of Everyday and City Style dolls, and a few “Good vs. Evil” 4-packs. That was it. (If I wasn’t sure Target’s phasing their Winx toys out, I am now.)
I sighed. Yep, we’d wasted our time.
The Muse looked just as frustrated as I was. Slowly, she flipped through the dolls to find something to make this stop worth it. When she reached the back of the bottom row, my jaw fell.
It was her City Style doll! I’d never seen one in stores before! And at a Target? The ones in my city never got the season five dolls!
Needless to say, I didn’t put her back. $13 well spent.
It was getting late, so we decided to make our next stop the last. Toys R Us was a Winx Club mother lode, so why not visit another?
On the outside, this TRU looked just like the first. But the inside couldn’t have been more different — quiet, plain, boring. No perky clerks. No hustle and bustle. Felt like being home again.
The Aisha Sirenix doll wasn’t there, of course — and neither was my new desire: the regular Musa Sirenix doll.
Asking the staff had worked last time, so I did it right away. The clerk tried his best to help us — checking for new shipments, pawing through every row of dolls on the shelf — but he found nothing, either. Oh, well.
You know the pattern by now. Every time I started feeling disappointed, my birthday luck activated.
I glanced over to the mini-figures sitting on the shelf by the dolls. Right there in front was the Bloom Harmonix figure, another toy I’d never seen in stores!
“There’s more up there,” said the Muse. She gestured with her eyes to the highest rack of figures. It didn’t take me long to find another rare item: the Stormy Trix Collection figure! And it was on sale! Perfect!
So our trip was more successful than we thought it’d be. Worth the two-hour drive? Definitely.
If my family’s reading this — thanks for a fun and memorable birthday!
