It’s been way too long, hasn’t it? Welcome back, Winx! And they came soaring back! This was a good episode — better dialogue, lots of action, and a long-overdue visit to Tecna’s realm, Zenith.

Speaking of Zenith, isn’t it amazing? Droids, holograms, big screens, circuit board patterns on the roads — no wonder Tecna’s such a techno geek! Of course, all Stella saw was a new shopping opportunity. (What are we gonna do with her?)

Meanwhile in the Infinite Ocean, Tritannus threw the biggest temper tantrum in the history of the Magic Dimension. What a baby!

Next episode: “The Shark’s Eye.” Darcy and Stormy go after Daphne’s friend Politea, a cursed Sirenix fairy, to steal her powers and surpass Icy and Tritannus. Daphne alerts Bloom, who goes to Shark Eye Mountain to save Politea.

Here were my thoughts while watching episode 5X22: “Listen to Your Heart!”

    • Oops alert! Icy’s lip-syncing was off on the line, “The last seal!”
    • I’m so sick of “I’ll be emperor! And I’ll be empress!” routine!
    • It doesn’t matter if Sky missed it! Bloom wasn’t even playing!
    • That’s Helia for you, still giving love advice while his own love life is falling apart!
    • Bloom: “I wish we hadn’t fought. We can both be so pig-headed!”

      At least she admitted it!

    • It’s tough to hear Flora doubting herself. (Krystal’s fun? Since when?) But why is she so sure Helia wants to be with Krystal? She hugged him. That’s not proof!
    • Bloom: “Wait, what did you do with the real Tecna?”

      Ha! No kidding!

    • “Breaking news from Zenith! Alert! Alert!” Man, that’s annoying! How do Zenithians stand it?
    • Logical equals wrong? Wow, Tecna has changed!
    • Stella: “I’ve never been to Zenith!

Why does it feel like they’re rubbing it in our face that they’ve ignored Tecna until now?

    • Stella: “It’s freezing here!”
Tecna: “Well, Zenith’s climate is calibrated to maximize the functioning of our techno-droids!”

Techno-babble translation: Cryos cares more about bots than people. Thanks a lot! Still, it’s a cool place…literally!

    • Tecna: “That is the most technologically-advanced retail experience in the Magic Dimension!”

Why did this make me think of Apple?

    • If the Shop-a-Tron is all they need, why build a store at all?
    • The Shop-a-Tron sounds like those Microsoft text readers! 😛
    • Pyros designer line? It’s an island of dragons! Who made the clothes? Maia?
    • Selkies defending the pillar. Because that’s worked so well so far.
    • The Pillar of Control. Attack it, and things go out of control. Makes sense.
    • How does King Cryos know Tecna’s name? (Oh, wait. She’s a Winx.)
    • A very unselfish wish. Way to go, Tecna!
    • Another Sirenix fairy? And just what is the curse of Sirenix?

  1. Pyros designer line. OK. I can explain that-Pyros is actually the designer, not the designer’s home world. I’ve heard it in italian, so that made sense for me. Loved Sirenix 2D scenes and this episode is absolutely one of my faves of the entire series! The other one from this season is 24, but I can’t give any spoilers!

  2. Loved this episode.
Flora and Helia having relationship problems is something I actually wanted. I’m not sure I’m satisfied with the way it was don though.

Bratty Stella needs to take a hike, seriously. I was annoyed with Bloom in season 4, still annoyed with her now, but Stella is really falling from grave with me. That was really selfish. people were waiting in line and she messed up their machine. Didn’t even care that she messed up their shopping.

Ok, I’m happy that Bloom and Sky are back together but this was Tecna’s episode. Why is there a Bloom and Sky montage at he end. Get your own episode.

Other than these three small issues, I was very pleased and satisfied with the way thing went. Best wish ever Tecna!!!

    • Flora and Helia having relationship problems is something I actually wanted. I’m not sure I’m satisfied with the way it was don though.

Yeah, I wish we’d seen more of it. I thought the drama was over, but now suddenly it’s being brought back up again. It doesn’t make sense.

  3. First off, volleyball. Oh hey, princess Krystal. Haven’t seen or cared about her in awhile. The Winx lose when Flora messes up. Why does Flora suck so much this season? Krystal is getting all touchy with Helia even though she knows she shouldn’t be doing that. Helia is just not doing anything. Bloom is still moping. The comparison with the seashell is actually very apt. She broke the seashell, and now due to her idiocy she’s almost going to break up her relationship. Why Flora is comparing herself badly to Krystal I have no idea. I mean, I know she has low self-esteem, but still. At least Tecna gave good advice. By now she’s the only one who’s proven she can manage a relationship properly.

I wonder what the exact reason was for Cryos to not join the alliance. It’s not like Zenith can do anything to Tritannus, unless Cryos is taking credit for everything Tecna has done. Tecna seems to understand his decision, even if he doesn’t like it. I’m amused that she thinks she’ll be able to change his mind, since as of now we don’t know if she has any connection to him.

Finally, Zenith. I’m not sure why the temperature needs to be kept low for the robots, but okay. Place looks cool. Seeing the shop was a distraction, but it does give a small taste of how the planet operates. I like the name dropping of various other planets. Linphea is nice, seeing as how we’re not seeing that planet this season. Oppositus was remembered as well. Then Pyros. Why does the Island of Dragons have a clothing line?

Tritannus reaches the pillar. And goes on a tantrum when things don’t go exactly his way. I still enjoy laughing at him. Darcy and Stormy also like to laugh at him. Too bad the Selkies can’t do anything. Well, might as well take it out on the Pillar.

I’d mock the robots for going crazy so easily, but it was caused by the same thing that caused eclipses and earthquakes everywhere to happen, so I’ll let it slide. I would like some explanation as to why they went straight for the palace. Security for the king sucks. Yet it’s still better than the security for all the other royals.

Tecna is punching stuff. Cool. She and Cryos know each other. I’d like to know how they met. Why don’t the Winx just shoot the robots? Tecna punched them pretty easily. Nope, gotta make Flora relevant somehow, even though the plan makes absolutely no sense. It confuses the robots how? Then Musa, Stella, and Aisha destroyed them pretty easily anyway.

Selkies try to be helpful in some way. And actually succeed for once. Bravo Tritannus, you were driven away by Selkies. I’d say this was a new low, but this isn’t the first time he almost lost to Selkies.

Cryos learns the error of his ways, agrees to join the alliance, all is well. He’s not a complete idiot like Erendor is, so points there I guess. So time for the first wish. Let the people of Zenith feel more connected to the Magic Dimension. Interesting, but from our perspective ultimately pointless since we never saw the people be disconnected from everywhere else.

Time for the dumb Bloom/Sky drama to finally end. How did Sky get away if Diaspro wasn’t letting him leave? Or did he just ignore her when he realized she can’t actually do much to him. Flashback to previous stuff. All it did was remind me that Sky’s current haircut is terrible. Anyway, they talk and sort out there non-existent problems. Just in time for next season’s dumb drama. Maybe they should break up, if only so we don’t have to see this dread again.

Tritannus screaming his lungs out about not being emperor has been the funniest thing in the entire season. This Politea stuff, now this might be interesting. Though if the curse of Sirenix is going to make one a monster, then Tritannus shouldn’t have much to worry about. Can’t get much worse. Darcy and Stormy see this as a chance. Icy tells them off, though she seems to regret it slightly. It’s still hard to get why she cares for him over her sisters. Darcy and Stormy are just seeing if they can get any respect from anyone.

While it has some issues, mostly with Flora, this was a pretty solid episode overall. Seeing Zenith was the big thing. The Bloom/Sky stuff ending is also a plus. Darcy and Stormy finally breaking off to do their own thing was long overdue.

There’s one thing I really liked about this episode though. Finally the princess Tecna arguments are dead. She’s not a princess. I can’t believe it took over 120 episodes for people to accept it, but it’s done.

    • Why does Flora suck so much this season?

      No kidding. Poor thing.

The comparison with the seashell is actually very apt. She broke the seashell, and now due to her idiocy she’s almost going to break up her relationship.

Actually, she didn’t break it. She found it like that. But the analogy still works.

I’m not sure why the temperature needs to be kept low for the robots, but okay.

Yeah, I thought extreme cold was bad for machines. Then again, there wasn’t a thermometer to tell us exactly how cold it was. Oh, well.

Nope, gotta make Flora relevant somehow, even though the plan makes absolutely no sense. It confuses the robots how?

Yeah, I didn’t understand that either. It was an interesting trick, but considering they were already going after the king, you’d think they wouldn’t care about attacking the Winx at all. If they’d been programmed to attack “the enemy” and couldn’t tell who “the enemy” was, it would have made more sense.

Tritannus screaming his lungs out about not being emperor has been the funniest thing in the entire season.

      I totally agree! XD

Finally the princess Tecna arguments are dead. She’s not a princess. I can’t believe it took over 120 episodes for people to accept it, but it’s done.

I don’t know. I bet someone will come up with a way it’s still possible. 😛

  4. I shouldn’t have read this since I have no idea when Canada will get this episode. Ytv is screwing up the airings for some reason so we may get the rest of the season there before Summer break starts.

  5. This episode was sorta worth waiting for, I mean Zenith was awesome! I’m kinda mad that Rainbow and Nick are waisting screen time with new flat characters like Krystal and Roy and not giving screen time for obvious established characters. I can only hope that Season 6 isn’t filled with crappy characters like this.

  6. i’m surprised there was no musa/riven drama did you notice the girl who served the volleyball was the same one riven took off with in episode 19. i wonder how sky got away from diaspro so he could see bloom

  7. A new classic Tecna action phrase, “Techno-punch!”, I love it! We may not be able to shoot streams of hexagonal plasma, but we can Techno-punch.

Yes, it does appear that Tecna is not the princess daughter of King Cryos in the TV series canon, unlike the comic book canon. And how does King Cryos know Tecna’s name? Well, besides being the famous Winx from Zenith, in the 1st movie canon she’s becomes the “Guardian Fairy of her realm(=Zenith)”, so she’s someone the King is sure to know and have met before.

It looks like the “Wishes” are likely to be vague concepts instead personal, “feel connected” vs bring Nabu back from the dead etc. And other than the light show, which seemed to get in Tecna’s eye, how do we know the wish did anything?

This season the subplots seem to run for the entire season, (very slowly at times). So they’re still alternating Flora messing up from not believing in herself, with her taking the lead in a situation just like in “The Lilo”. And we won’t know until the end of the season which subplots were dead ends. (A possible topic after episode 26?)

They also didn’t explain how Sky got past Diaspro. If he made it an official appointment to satisfy her requirements from the start of the episode, she would know about it and would find a way to mess it up. Just another tiny plot hole. (Another possible topic after season end: Make group list of ALL the plot holes).

Here’s a question. Does the “Curse of Sirenix” extent to the Sirenix Guardians? (Other than being doomed to living in a jewel box, of course.)

  8. Stella breaking the Shop-a-Tron… wow. I don’t know why that was so perfect to me.

VGKJHDXKFGH YAY I SAW ROXY!!!!!!!! WOO-HOO!!!!!!!

    Sorry, I missed her.

Yeah, when he said Tecna’s name it felt like he knew her as something other than a Winx (princess/daughter, anyone? no? okay.) and I was kind of hoping at the end she would say something and call him “Dad” or “Daddy”, but no. Atleast we saw Zenith! Really enjoyed the snowy-ness.

Icy’s face at the end. Love it. Feel regret, miss your sisters!

Ever since I saw on the wikia that there was some info on Politea, and more on Daphne’s past, I was uber-excited to see that episode. Can’t wait for it next week! (Nickelodeon willing, anyway -.-)

  9. All in all, I thought it was pretty good.

I like that they actually carried Tecna’s newfound emotions into this episode, [is that continuity I see?!] And her wish was really nice; no spoilers, but it was a great connection between her emotional and logical sides. 🙂

Also, Zenith needs to be cold for their machines to run efficiently because when things overheat they malfunction. Have you ever had your laptop overheat? It’s like that, the cooler climate keeps the inner workings of the machines from getting overworked and damaged from the heat. 🙂 Also, I figured out that even King Cryos’ name is tied into this! Cryos, I think, was inspired by Cryogenics, which is the science of flash-freezing. So that’s interesting!

I guess now though, we can officially say that Tecna is not a royal; although it is strange that she knew the schematics of the palace: when they’re pursuing the possessed droids, she shouts, “They’re headed for the thron room!” And also Cryos knew Tecna’s name, though the speculation with that is that he knew because she is Zenith’s guardian fairy.

As for Krystal, I don’t think that it was necessarily wrong for her to hug Helia, since they’re good friends, but at the same time, I think that as a young adult, she should have a little more sense than to hang on him knowing that he’s taken. On this note, I feel bad for Flora, but at the same time, her sensitivity seems to have turned into petulance this season! I like sensitive Flora, it’s just a fitting part of her, but this season, she seems very whiney and kind of stuck in the background. Nothing really jumps out at me about her this time around, which sucks because she’s one of my favorite Winx 🙁

With the villains though, they’re more annoying than threatening, imo. And what’s with Icy acting all sulky and guilty?! In all 5 seasons I think this is the first time we’ve EVER seen Icy show any ‘weaker’ emotions! For once her sisters seem more like the dastardly leaders than she does! The boy-crazy, puppy love thing is a serious detriment to her character.

And how awesome is the Shop-A-Tron? I wish we had something like this in real life! 😮

All in all though, pretty good episode, hopefully these last 4 will be just as great!

    • Also, Zenith needs to be cold for their machines to run efficiently because when things overheat they malfunction. Have you ever had your laptop overheat? It’s like that, the cooler climate keeps the inner workings of the machines from getting overworked and damaged from the heat.

My laptop shuts off when it overheats. Annoying! (I can turn that feature off, but I choose not to. I just keep a fan on it all the time…even in winter.)
Anyway, I thought extreme cold was just as bad for machines as extreme heat. We don’t really know exactly how cold it was, though — “freezing” is just an exaggeration. So maybe it was just a typical winter temperature.

In all 5 seasons I think this is the first time we’ve EVER seen Icy show any ‘weaker’ emotions! For once her sisters seem more like the dastardly leaders than she does!

I love that Darcy and Stormy are acting on their own. Usually, they just blindly follow Icy. It’s nice to see them standing up to her for once.

    • actually helia never told krystal that flora was his girlfriend until this episode. when they were introduced he said flora was “a good friend” not his girlfriend

      • because Helia wants Krystal to figure that out for herself. I’m glad we got to see Zenith though I’m sick of Stella’s bratitude. Bloom, thank you for admiting that you’re pig-headed at times, I always knew you weren’t as perfect as everyone accuses you of being.

    • I checked to see the summaries and watched it over youtube on Italian and the last episode seems amazing I cant believe what happens but I wont spoil

  10. Who was that other man with the King Cyros (the one with purple hair)? I feel like he’s just the Kings right hand man, but did they actually give him a name?

  11. Well, it’s so very obvious why robots work well in cold! Conductors conduct well when it’s cold and their resistance increases with an increase in temperature. In fact, at very low temperatures, they become superconductors. This doesn’t apply to semiconductors which are in fact widely used in electronics but then Zenith is far too advanced and might be using superconductors.

  12. Also, at high temperatures, metals are more reactive and might corrode. There certainly are many arguments for that.
