World of Winx.

Yeah, I know. “About time, OP!” It’s only been about a month and a half since it premiered!

Sorry, guys. If you need an explanation, see my post from a couple weeks ago. Also — and I hate to play this card again — I’m a college student. The semester just ended last week. I’m finally free again — at least for about a month and a half.

Enough excuses. Let’s get started. What did I think of WoW season one?

I liked it. I didn’t love it, but it kept me hooked (pun intended) long enough to binge-watch all 13 episodes from 3-9 a.m. the day it premiered. I’ve never done that before with any show. (I regret nothing.)

What kept me from loving it? One thing was knowing it’s not canon. Boy, does it show! I’m not sure it fits into the main timeline at all!

The Winx are friends with Roxy (or at least Bloom is), but she’s not being hunted by The Wizards of the Black Circle? And she still works at the Frutti Music Bar? But she knows she’s a fairy, she’s good with her magic, and she can already transform? (She said something like, “If only we had our wings,” in one episode.)

And in episode one, Tecna said the Winx had already been on Earth for months. Where’s Love & Pet? Where’s their band? And no one knows they’re fairies, but Earth has magic again?

Why is the room spinning?

I guess it doesn’t matter. WoW‘s a spinoff, so it doesn’t have to follow Winx Club‘s timeline. The most it can be is an alternate season five, but even that’s stretching it a bit. In the end, it’s just a nice, little distraction for older fans. It’s not worth fussing over.

If we’re gonna pick it apart, we’d have to do it to PopPixie, too. Pixies have transformations, The Tree of Life has yet another function it doesn’t have the main show, Digit and Zing are boys — forget it. Read the rest of this post

Some fans have been asking for this, so here it is. I’ve listed the voice actors’ (seiyuu) names in western order: first name, then last name.

The Winx

All the Winx’s seiyuu tweeted about their roles to spread the word about the show! Nice to see they’re excited about being part of the Winx franchise! 🙂

Confirmed, But Not In The Credits

The seiyuu who voiced Vincenzo (the chef talent) and Lorelei also tweeted about their roles.

Vincenzo: Takuya Inagaki

Lorelei: Ikumi Sato

Unconfirmed

Ace and Margot’s seiyuu were shown in the credits — not sure why for Margot, since she wasn’t that important — but I’m not sure if I found the correct people. Japanese names can be tricky to translate. I’m pretty sure I’m right, though.

Ace: Masamichi Kitada

Margot: Bibi

There you go. If I find anymore, I’ll let you know! 🙂

No, this isn’t one of my reaction posts. So sue me. I had to share this with you. 🙂

In case you hadn’t heard, World of Winx has an official Japanese dub. Why is that a big deal? For starters, it’s the first time anything Winx-related has been dubbed in Japanese.

Second, Mr. Straffi has wanted this for years. In a 2009 interview on ItalTrade.com, he said breaking into the Japanese market was his next goal. It took about 13 years to get Winx in there, but he finally did it. Talk about a dream come true!

Does this make Winx Club an anime now? 😛 (Just kidding. Or am I?)

Anyway, here’s the official Japanese dub of the opening and Dreamix theme:

OPENING

DREAMIX

All I have to say about this song is it makes “Tynix” sound like Rebecca Black’s “Friday.” My heart was pounding as I was listening to it. “Heller Als Licht” (Brighter Than Light), which has been my favorite Winx song for years, may have some competition!

The World of Winx trailer! Finally! Feels like we’ve been waiting forever!

Was it worth it? Not really, at least for what we got. I was disappointed by how short it was (where were all the scenes Michael showed us?), and it left me with more questions than answers.

I’ll get to those soon. First, here are my general thoughts and reactions.

New Characters

We only saw three new characters: the host of WOW!, a kid the Winx were chasing, and another kid they kept having to save from crocodiles. I like their designs, especially the crocodile bait kid. 😛 He looks adorable. I wonder if he’s that “Evans” person voice actress Alyson Rosenfeld mentioned on Twitter. (She voiced Miele in season seven.)

The other kid looks like a cross between Nex and Helia. Is he one of the Lost Boys, or is he one of the talented kids? I’m not sure why the talented kids would run away from the Winx, but that thought popped into my head. What if not all of them wanna be saved?

The host reminds me of the host from “Miss Magix” (1X12). I know they don’t look alike, but his personality seems similar. (It’s just your standard cartoon host persona.) His voice sounded similar, too — at least based on the 4Kids dub. Season seven had some 4Kids Winx veterans in it, so who knows? This could be the same actor.

In the video description, Rainbow said his name’s Ace. If they mentioned him by name, does that mean we’ll be seeing him a lot? That would make sense, since he’s part of the reality show.

But I don’t trust him yet. It’s because of my theory about WOW!‘s true purpose. We’ll see if I’m right or not. Read the rest of this post
