Musings & Rants

So, I was writing an article on the couples this morning, but then I saw that Winxipedia had beaten me to it. Oh well. I still have my own opinions about the couples. However, there is one thing that Winxipedia mentioned that I am in total agreement with:

Flora and Helia are caught! They can’t hide that they’re the cutest couple EVER!!

They’ve never once argued! The only trouble was getting up the courage to tell each other their feelings. After that, their relationship has been perfect. They are the cutest couple and the most likely to last! ^-^

Then, there’s Layla and Nabu. Remember how much Layla hated Nabu when they first met? Now it seems like that never happened. They’ve been the most lovey-dovey this season. Nabu even proposed! (You go, Nabu! Woo!) In one episode, these two discussed the possibility of living on Earth together (though their parents may not approve of the future rulers of Andros moving to Earth). Either way, Layla and Nabu are the second cutest couple!

Tecna and Timmy have had very little attention since the first two seasons. I suppose that’s a good thing. It means that they haven’t suffered from drama as much as the others. But I think these two need more attention. For now, they’re a boring couple. Kinda cute, but boring.

Most of the drama this season has revolved around Stella and Brandon. When I first heard about Mitzi trying to break them up, I was furious! Not that they’re my favorite couple. It’s just that with the whole monster incident in season three, they couldn’t break up! Brandon loved Stella no matter what she looked like. For someone as vain as she is, that means a lot! I knew they would stay together. I’d say that Stella and Brandon are the most enduring couple.

I’ve already devoted an entire article to Musa and Riven. Need I say more? These two are complicated. (For a second opinion on them, visit Winxipedia.)

Speaking of complicated, the last couple is Bloom and Sky. These two have had quite a ride together. With Diaspro and the whole Brandon-Sky switch, I’d say they rival Musa and Riven for the title of most complicated couple. In fact, they’re so complicated that their relationship is almost annoying. With how much they’ve been through, you’d think they’d be over the drama by now. Someone like Andy showing up shouldn’t even be an issue. (Bloom isn’t going anywhere, Sky. Stop being a drama king. ;p) I’d say that keeping little secrets (like Andy and Diaspro) has been the biggest issue with this couple. They need to tell each other everything so they won’t have anymore nasty surprises.

Anyway, it seems like most issues were solved (with the exception of Musa and Riven) by episode 13, but who knows? There’s another half of season four to look forward to. Anything could happen between now and the end. When this season ends, I will rate the couples again and account for any changes that may occur. But for now, these are my opinions. You don’t have to agree with me, though. Please feel free to tell me your opinions on the couples. =)

Anything written on Wikipedia is to be taken with a grain of salt, but assuming the titles in the episode list are real, I’ve made some guesses about the next episodes.

14. “Animali nel Bisogno” (Animals in Need)
We already basically know what will happen in this episode because of the preview. The Winx become Gardenia’s superheroes, and Roxy tries to stop some animal hunters’ plans. It doesn’t sound like an eventful episode.

15. “Città di Mistero” (City of Mystery)
There isn’t much to read into this title. I think the Winx and Roxy (right, Rainbow) will probably learn something about the Fairies of the White Circle in this “mysterious town.”

16. “Dove è Roxy?” (Where is Roxy?)
Are the Winx falling asleep on the job? Just because she can defend herself now, it doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be watching her anymore. Perhaps something she learns in the previous episode makes her upset and she decides to go on a one-woman quest—like Bloom whenever she’d learn about her past.

17. “Incontri Il Nuovo, Trix!” (The New Encounter, Trix!)
Well, well, well. The evil three are back, are they? I bet everyone was starting to wonder why they were being so quiet. What’s a season without them? But this may be Trix v.4.0; they joined the Ancestral Witches at the end of Secret of the Lost Kingdom! Will the Winx be able to handle that combined power?

18. “Believix Potere Winx!” (Believix Power of Winx)
Again, very broad. One question, though: now that Roxy has her Believix, will she be included in this “power of Winx” business? Or will Rainbow separate her again?

19. “Una Storia di Amore” (A Love Story)
Ah, amore! Three possibilities: Roxy finds a guy, Musa and Riven get back together, or Stella and Brandon get engaged (there has been a rumor about their wedding). The first one’s a longshot. I’m leaning towards the third one mixed with second one.

20. “Il Segreto di Sky” (Sky’s Secret)
How many secrets can one prince—excuse me, king—have? Poor Bloom! She’s engaged to the most complicated guy in the universe! Then again, he was extremely busy with his Eraklyon duties at the beginning of the season, and we don’t know what they were. Could they have something to do with the wedding? Is there a conspiracy back home? Is Sky adopted? 😛

The last six episode spaces are marked as “unknown.” That brings the total to twenty-six, which may be a mistake. Doesn’t season four have twenty-four episodes? We’ll see if any of these titles stand.

What do you think about them?

Ah, the scandals never end with Bloom and Sky. You would think that after the Diaspro/Diaspora files, the fight about Professor Avalon, Bloom’s almost switching to the dark side, and Sky’s myriad of MIA moments, their engagement at the last scene of The Secret of the Lost Kingdom would finally solve their problems.

Enter the ex-boyfriend Andy.

A scruffy musician who frequents juice bars…or a debonair king who nearly died countless times for you, helped you defrost your home world, and reunited you with your biological parents whom you hadn’t seen in 17+ years? Tough choice, Bloom. Just how fickle are we women?

What about Musa and Riven? Stella and Brandon?

I never thought 4Kids’s “hero syndrome” (invented in season two) would ever actually apply to the show, but Brandon seems to have a case of it now. So what if you held Mitzi’s in your arms and she’s stalking you? Stella is your girlfriend! What happened to the time she was turned into a frog monster and you stayed by her side, even though she thought you only loved her because she’s beautiful? And Stella’s making things worse, of course, by flirting with every guy that notices the Winx. Does she want him to break up with her?

As for Musa, I guess she’s never been around guys who love music as much as she does. Still, I thought she and Riven were finally solid, too, after their reconciliation in the movie. Maybe Riven should take guitar lessons.

Would Rainbow actually split our sweet couples up? All we can do is keep watching to find out!

Remember this picture that surfaced when season four was still a rumor? We can fill in the holes based on the knowledge we have now.

“New power transformations” obviously means the Believix. “Winx come to the Earth!” Well, there’s the beginning of our plot. The Winx go to Gardenia to find “the last fairy,” Roxy. (In case you didn’t know, they graduated from Alfea in Secret of the Lost Kingdom.)

The Winx’s outfits look like dummies of their future Believix fashions. Bloom‘s pigtails are gone, but the cheerleader-like ensemble has stayed mostly the same, as have Musa‘s and Stella‘s outfits. Flora‘s is the only one that changed significantly—notice the change in colors, the lack of sleeves and arm bands, and the new flower petal motif. Her hair is the same, though. But thankfully, none of them kept the little tooth fairy wings!

Whoa! Who’s that hunk standing behind Flora? That’s probably her beau Helia, whose hair has gotten a makeover this season, as you can see in this magazine scan.

And then there’s Sky. Hi, Sky.

Season four premieres tomorrow in Italy!
